Fiddler and singer Laima Haley explores the connections between fiddling traditions of the world. Originally trained as a classical violinist, she discovered her passion for fiddle repertoire while living in Lithuania for a year working for the Baltica Festival.

After returning to the United States, she met like musical minds over the years, exploring other world traditions. She appeared in a Longmont Theatre production of “Fiddler on the Roof” as the fiddler, including dancing and acting. She won the “Best Supporting Actress of the season” award from the company for that role.

Laima has been a member of Denver based Planina: Songs of Eastern Europe for many years. As a part of that group, she has performed around the state while exploring music from Bulgaria, Russia, Georgia, Poland and many other countries. She appears on their most recent album Telegram on the Wind.

More recently, Laima has spent more time exploring her love of Americana music and participating in the incredible Colorado bluegrass jam community. She is always looking for new ways to create thrilling performances by pulling in Jazz, Blues, Klezmer and Celtic fiddle influences.

These days she can be heard regularly at bluegrass services at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boulder. She also performs with Switchgrass, the Red Garden Ramblers, Renegade Roosters and the Haystack Mountain Bluegrass band. As a guest artist, her main objectives are always to blend with the group sound, to support each member’s performance and to energize the audience.

During the daytime hours, Laima serves as Marketing and Public Relations Director for CU Presents, working with the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music, Department of Theatre & Dance and Colorado Shakespeare Festival. She is continually inspired by the work of the musicians, dancers and actors of the CU Boulder.

Laima Haley is available for guest appearances with bands, recording sessions, and other musical occasions. As a member of an outstanding community of Front Range musicians, she is happy to pull together small ensembles or bands for public and private events.
